When Life Changes, Your Insurance Cover Can too

Many New Zealanders don’t realise their existing life, trauma, or TPD insurance policy includes a special event benefit – a feature that allows you to increase your cover after major life events like having a baby, getting married, or taking out a larger mortgage, without any new medical underwriting. This matters most if your health has changed since you first took out cover, as a fresh application could mean higher premiums, exclusions, or declined cover. Threefold’s insurance team explains how special event clauses work, which life events qualify, and how to make sure you don’t miss the window to use them.

When things go wrong, it’s about who’s in your corner

Insurance is often something you set up and then hope you never need. Policies are arranged, documents are filed away, and life carries on. But when something goes wrong – like a burst pipe, a house fire, a vehicle accident, or a major business interruption – this is when the real value of having an […]

Why It Pays to Check Your Insurance Cover Before the Holidays

The festive season in New Zealand is not solely about BBQs, sunshine and DIY because, as ACC statistics remind us, a surprisingly high number of festive injuries also take place! According to ACC data gathered from the last few years, around 2,500 Kiwis are injured every December doing Christmas-related activities, costing more than $2 million […]

The Safety Net for Real Life

When we talk about ‘protecting the family’, most Kiwis immediately think about life insurance. It makes sense, a safety net in the form of a lump sum payout to help clear the mortgage, take care of debts and provide loved ones with some financial security in the event the unthinkable happens.  But here’s the reality […]
